Los Angeles, which is the home to approximately 26,000 self-identified Health Israelis, is one of the most dynamic Israeli emigrant communities.It includes an active ethnic economy and a variety of immigrant-oriented institutions.These are sustained by a number of factors, including the city’s Mediterranean climate, economic characteristics, visibility as a media center, diverse Jewish community, and ACNEDOTE FACE SCRUB good relations between Israeli emigrants and American co-religionists.Based upon in-depth interviews and fieldwork, this paper discusses Israelis’ reasons for moving to Los Angeles and their social, economic and communal lives.

It concludes by identifying Israeli transnationalism, a process whereby Israelis in LA maintain ongoing social, economic and identificational links between Southern California and their country of origin.
